Ear wax removal for immediate relief

Suffering from itchy, aching or blocked ears?

Ear wax is good for the health of your ears and it plays an important role in preventing infection and removing debris from the ear canal. Some people can be prone to producing more ear wax than others, which can lead to irritation, infection or hearing loss. Everyone is different and some people just suffer more than most.

Using earphones or ear plugs can also encourage ear wax build up and if you use cotton buds (which we never recommend) you could be pushing and compacting ear wax further into your ear canal, causing it to harden and become compacted. This could lead to permanent damage.

If you are suffering with itchy, aching or blocked ears, get in touch with your local Peninsula Hearing Care clinic to make an appointment to see us.

Causes of ear wax complaints

Ear wax plays a vital role in preventing infection and stopping debris from entering the ear canal. However, some people are prone to excessive build up which can lead to irritation, hearing loss or infection if not treated.

Certain skin conditions, like eczema, can contribute to excess ear wax. Using ear plugs and in-ear headphones can encourage wax build up. Using cotton buds, which we never recommend, can cause wax to compact and harden, leading to permanent damage.

How does ear wax removal work?

We use micro-suction wax removal to offer you immediate relief.

Ear wax removal by micro-suction is a no-fuss, safe and pain-free method of removal and uses a fine suction tube to gently remove excess wax from the ear canal. No liquids are used, it’s clean, non-invasive and allows your Peninsula Audiologist to clearly see into the ear canal.

We do not offer the alternative method, ear syringing, as it has been recognised as potentially harmful by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, and is no longer recommended.

Ear wax removal is no longer available on the NHS and no ENT referral is need. Find your local Peninsula Hearing Care clinic to make an appointment.

Affordable relief

Since September 2020 ear wax removal is no longer available through the NHS so it is important that people suffering from ear wax complaints have access to the relief they need, quickly and affordably.

Patient care is at the heart of what we do, which is why we’ve kept our prices low – wax removal costs just £50 for one ear, or £80 for both ears. Get in touch with your local clinic to find out more about ear wax removal from a professional Peninsula Audiologist.
